Projector vs Reflector

Overview

A Projector and a Reflector are both non-Sacral, so neither is here to be a sustainable workforce. People lump them together as "the ones who need rest." The charts are not the same. A Projector has some centers defined and a focused, absorbing aura. A Reflector has all nine centers open and a resistant, sampling aura.

Projectors are 21% of people on their type page. Reflectors are about 1%, the rarest type. One is recognized and invited into guiding other people's energy. The other mirrors a whole environment and is asked to wait about 28 days before a major decision. The free chart shows whether any center is colored in. If none are, the type is Reflector.

Some definition, or none

A Projector is non-Sacral, not empty. Other centers can be defined: the Ajna, the Throat, the Spleen, the G, and so on. Those defined centers are consistent. The openness is specific. The strategy of waiting for invitation belongs to that partial openness plus the focused aura.

A Reflector has no defined centers at all. There is no fixed inner filter. The type page describes the work as reflecting rather than absorbing: sampling the passions, fears, and moods nearby without taking them on as your own. When conditioning wins, those energies get absorbed as if they were personal. That is a different problem from a Projector's bitterness about recognition.

An invitation is faster than a moon

Projector strategy is recognition and invitation, especially for the large decisions: work, love, place. It is not a 28-day rule. Once the invitation is real, a Splenic Projector may know in the moment. An Emotional Projector still rides the wave. The timing comes from authority, and the entry comes from being asked.

Reflector strategy is the lunar cycle because the Moon's transit is the closest thing to consistency in a chart with nothing defined. The type page ties major decisions to a full cycle of roughly 28 days, the time it takes the Moon to move through all 64 gates. Deciding on day two, because you felt clear in someone else's kitchen, is how disappointment gets chosen. A Projector who waits 28 days for every small yes is using the Reflector rule. A Reflector who only waits to be invited, and then decides the same afternoon, is using the Projector rule.

Success and surprise

Success for a Projector is recognition that fits: the right people, the right room, guidance that was asked for. Bitterness means the guidance was pushed, or the Projector tried to match Sacral hours.

Surprise for a Reflector is the delight of a correct place and the right people, not a Generator's satisfaction and not a Projector's success. The type page says so in those words. Disappointment is the not-self theme when the environment or the rush was wrong. Because a Reflector mirrors the community, a difficult room is not a side issue. It is the material they are reflecting.

Aura and authority

Focused and absorbing means the Projector aura locks onto a person. Resistant and sampling means the Reflector aura tastes the field without merging with it as a fixed identity. One is a lens. The other is a mirror for the health of the group. Treating a Reflector as a guide who should have an opinion on demand ignores the sampling design. Treating a Projector as a blank mirror ignores the centers that are defined.

Authority follows. Reflectors have Outer authority, also called lunar authority, and no inner authority from a defined center. Projectors have one of the inner authorities except Sacral. If your chart shows a defined center and someone calls you a Reflector, the label is wrong. Check it on the free chart.

Common questions

Is a Reflector a kind of Projector?
No. Both are non-Sacral, and the similarity stops there. A Projector has at least one center defined and waits for invitation. A Reflector has all nine centers open and waits through a lunar cycle. The chart does not treat them as one type.
How long should each one wait?
A Projector waits for recognition and an invitation, then uses their authority, which might be instant (Splenic) or a wave (Emotional). A Reflector waits about 28 days, a full lunar cycle, before a major decision. The numbers are not interchangeable.
What are the not-self themes?
Bitterness for the Projector, when guidance is given where it was not invited. Disappointment for the Reflector, when decisions were rushed or the environment does not support them. Success and surprise are the matching signatures.
Can a Projector have all centers open?
No. All nine centers open is the Reflector definition. A Projector always has something defined, and never the Sacral, and never a motor connected to the Throat in the Manifestor pattern.
