Compare Human Design Types

Overview

These pages put two Human Design mechanics next to each other: strategy, signature, not-self theme, aura, and the authority pattern each one can have. The pairs are the ones people actually mix up. Generator with Manifesting Generator. Projector with Manifestor. Any of the defined types with a Reflector. Emotional authority with Sacral authority.

Nothing here is a ranking. The percentages, when a page uses them, are the ones already printed on the type pages: Generator 37%, Manifesting Generator about a third, Projector 21%, Manifestor 8%, Reflector about 1%. A rarer type is not a higher type. Open a comparison, then open both type pages, then look at your own chart.

Generator vs Manifesting Generator

Both have a defined Sacral and wait to respond. A Manifesting Generator then tests the yes and moves faster. Strategy, aura, and authority compared.

Generator vs Projector

Generator vs Projector: a defined Sacral and a response, or an open Sacral and an invitation. Aura, signature, and authority compared.

Projector vs Manifestor

Projector vs Manifestor: wait for an invitation, or inform and then initiate. Both are non-Sacral. Auras, signatures, and authorities differ.

Manifestor vs Generator

Manifestor vs Generator in Human Design: inform and initiate, or wait for a Sacral yes. Closed aura and peace, or an enveloping aura and satisfaction.

Manifesting Generator vs Manifestor

Manifesting Generator vs Manifestor: both move fast and both inform. Only one has a Sacral response and a testing phase. Aura, signature, and authority.

Projector vs Reflector

Projector vs Reflector in Human Design: both are non-Sacral, and that is where it stops. One waits for an invitation. The other waits out a lunar cycle.

Generator vs Reflector

Generator vs Reflector in Human Design: the most common Sacral type beside the rarest open type. Response and satisfaction, or a lunar cycle and surprise.

Manifestor vs Reflector

Manifestor vs Reflector in Human Design: an 8% initiating type with a closed aura, and a 1% type with every center open. Inform, or wait for the Moon.

Projector vs Manifesting Generator

Projector vs Manifesting Generator: an invitation and a focused aura, or a Sacral yes, a test, and speed. Only one has consistent Sacral energy.

Emotional vs Sacral Authority

Emotional vs Sacral authority: a wave with no truth in the now, or a gut response in the moment. The wave outranks the gut when the Solar Plexus is defined.

What the table is counting

Strategy is how the type enters. Signature is the felt sign that the strategy is in use. The not-self theme is the felt sign that it was skipped. Aura is how that type meets other people. Authority is a separate column on purpose: two Generators can share a strategy and still decide differently, because a defined Solar Plexus makes the decision Emotional.

The Emotional vs Sacral page uses the same five row labels so it sits with the others. The cells are about decision timing, not about type. Sacral authority exists only for Generators and Manifesting Generators whose Solar Plexus is open. Emotional authority outranks the gut whenever the Solar Plexus is defined.

What to read after a comparison

The type page is the long version of each column. The authority page is the long version of the decision. If the words themselves are in the way, the glossary uses the same definitions. If you do not yet have a chart, the free chart prints your type next to your authority. How to read a chart is the order: type, strategy, authority, profile, then the centers.

A comparison will not tell you whether two people "match." It will tell you how each person is built to engage and to decide. That is the useful part. The rest is a conversation, not a score.

Common questions

Which two types are most often confused?
Generator and Manifesting Generator, because both have a defined Sacral and both start by waiting to respond. The split is the motor-to-Throat connection: after the yes, a Manifesting Generator tests and does well to inform. Projector and Manifestor are the other common mix-up. One waits for an invitation and has no motor to the Throat. The other informs, then acts, and does have that connection.
Do these pages rank the types?
No. Each page compares mechanics: strategy, signature, not-self theme, aura, and authority. The population counts come from the type pages. They are counts, not scores.
Where is Emotional vs Sacral?
On this hub, with the type pairs. It is an authority comparison. Emotional authority waits out the Solar Plexus wave. Sacral authority answers in the moment, and only when the Solar Plexus is undefined.
